Eyebaaaaaaalls

So I decided to start my break off right by making some eyeballs!!! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Yaaaaaaaay! Though apparently the people I texted this too weren't quite as enthralled.

Since I've decided that I want to make myself a Burble, I figured I'd start with the stuff that I've never done before. Namely, making skin-like latex for the eyelids and around his mouth.

I looked up a few tutorials online, but they all involve making full molds out of plaster and stuff. As I am too lazy to do that (and also a little afraid of the idea of making a plaster mold), I thought I'd try making a clay mold, which I'd form around the clear halves of a plastic Christmas ornament I got, like, two years ago for something else, and then, with great artistic precision, dump liquid latex on top of it. So:

BOOM, YO.

Okay, so not really "boom", since the first ones I made were crappy and didn't work all that well. I mean, they worked for the purposes of seeing what it would, generally, look like, but I wound up having to remake them. The last two pictures above were from my second mold. My first one came out looking like this:

Gross.

The second set was much better, and look very Burble-ish (if I do say so myself)! I painted the insides of the ornaments with an ill-advised mixture of permanent marker and nail polish, and though right now the latex is just kind of slapped on top - to be adhered properly at, uh, some point in the future - hey! THEY LOOK LIKE EYES!

I bet Brian will be super psyched to come home and see these hanging out on the counter.
