Various Strings - er, I mean, Things

I was looking at my blog again (which I do regularly, since I constantly annoy myself over the layout but then realize what I have is less annoying than what I could have), and I realized that despite my plan to post an entry every Wednesday, last year I only managed, on average, two posts a month! That's pretty pathetic.

Granted, if I were to have forgotten this post, then I would have also started off 2016 with only two posts in a month. Three is much more respectable, right?

Anyway, first things first - The X-Files. If you follow me on any social media anywhere, or listened to our super quick podcast, then you've probably heard that I am completely in love with the new series and have spent the past few days flapping my hands with glee and being very, very excited. So, to not repeat myself even more ad nauseum than I usually do, I'm not going to go into it (for now - HAHAHA).

Instead, let's talk about the fact that I bought myself a violin!

True facts - I do not know how to play the violin. I can play the piano, and sometimes I can play the guitar (in the most rudimentary way imaginable), but I have no idea how to play a violin. I've always wanted to learn how to play the violin ever since I was very, very small. Of course, it has always been a complete mystery as to why.

Oh wait.

Just kidding.

The Granada Sherlock Holmes theme

So far, the support for my new decision has been overwhelming. I keep getting helpfully told things such as "The violin is the hardest instrument to play!",  "You've heard that the violin is hard, right?", and "I dunno, I think learning it is going to be really hard!".

Your words are appreciated, people who I now hate.

Either way, the violin was only about 33 bucks on Ebay. If I try it and decide I don't like it, I'll have a really cool looking decorative piece (tip courtesy of Gory). However, here's the deal - I'm going to make myself take at least a month of lessons. If I pick it up - great! I'll keep going! If I clearly have no affinity for the instrument, then a piece of blue decoration it shall be. I just know that if I don't actively take lessons, I'm never going to learn. Trying to figure out violin via the internet is not something that I would take seriously enough or put real effort into. If I'm going to actually give this a shot, I'll have to have someone I'm afraid of looking stupid in front of. That's how I roll.

And I may also document my attempts via very short, hard-to-listen-to videos. I was going to make one for this post, except I haven't bothered to shower today, so forget it.

Now someone just remind me to set up lessons! And a dentist appointment. And an eye exam. Ugh. Nevermind. Remind me of nothing.
