Alright. Grading
update 1.5 is officially a middle-of-the-night-grading-ragefit kind of
thing, so you know. Swell.
I forgot to mention
in my previous post (which was covered in Jim Henson, so I'm not sure how it slipped my mind) that I'm pretty bummed
The Muppets wound up getting canceled. It's one of those weird
instances where half of me wants to protest the unfairness of it,
since they got a new show runner towards the end and the episodes got so much better, but then the other half acknowledges
that you really can't have the first half of your season be the weak
part, especially if it's just starting and only has a grand total of
14 episodes. So... yeah. I'd really been looking forward to having
Kermit reliably on my screen again, but if Disney is as predictable
as it usually is, I'm sure they'll try again in another ten years
with another attempt (Muppets Tonight was really freaking
stupid – at least this was marginally more inspired). I guess
I'll check back in when I'm 39.
I will say, though, that a lot of the criticism about the show was freaking stupid. From the Variety article I stole this post's picture from, Daniel Holloway points out that "Critics derided the series as not family-friendly enough and out of step with the history of the characters, created by the late Jim Henson". This, of course, is blindingly stupid considering how long Jim Henson worked to market the Muppets (and other puppetry too) as aimed for adults. I mean:

Yes. Clearly this was meant to be completely family friendly. Let the three year old watch. But then, if there's one thing that's been definitively proven lately by all the idiots requesting a PG-13 Deadpool release, we have a culture that feels entitled to everything, and that everything should in turn reflect their own uninformed views on things. Comic book movie? Obviously should be for children despite the fact that the character has never been for children. Likewise, that same group cries about this new show being "out of step with... history", a history they very clearly know nothing about.
So, you know. I'm thrilled on numerous fronts tonight.
Piffle.
