Great merciful crap, it's another post!! First and foremost, I want to point out that my friend and frequent collaborator Ramona Mourir has started her own blog!! You can follow her by clicking on the picture of the two of us below, which was taken at C2E2 2016 by...someone. I can't actually remember where I got it. If you know whose it is, let me know!
Click this! I mean, this picture! Not this text. This text leads nowhere.
Regardless of my photographic theft, you should definitely follow her blog. Ramona and I do lots of stuff together, including cosplay and film work. She's also been a guest on the Bird Barf podcast multiple times, though I always call her by a completely different name because that's one of those things I do for reasons beyond my own comprehension. Right, Gory and Liz??
Anyway, originally I'd threatened her that I was going to make a blog post entirely about her (just because), but I changed my mind last minute and decided that I was going to talk about Labyrinth instead (which thus explains why I chose the photo above - see? SEE?).
Yesterday was one year following the death of David Bowie, something that I've talked about before and am not going to go into a bunch of detail about again. This time last year, I watched Labyrinth about three times in a row, followed by the featurette about its creation. Then, I randomly found myself buying a violin (which I did learn to play), I wrote most of "Faer Play", and I decided I was going to do a Jareth costume for C2E2, something that had occurred to me before, but I'd never really been able to talk myself into it.
Despite my terrible wig, I think it came off pretty well. However, Ramona and I are already planning a Labyrinth group costume idea, and I actually just sent her off some design ideas for, you know, things. One of my own goals is to replace that damn wig, though... it's just ridiculous. I also want to do a completely different costume of Jareth's, but naturally it's difficult to get pictures of because he really doesn't wear it all that long. There's just so much in that movie if you really look at it. When Ramona and I went to go see it during its return to the theater back in September, we kept elbowing each other about things we hadn't really noticed before, or things brought more to the forefront now with the new remastered edition. There have been so many cool things coming out for Labyrinth's 30th anniversary, one of which I got as a Christmas present - the Labyrinth Ultimate Visual Guide.
And me being a moron, I decided to do a solo Bird Barf about it. It's a bit different, though - this one's on video! Don't worry - my face is nowhere in it. I just wanted to try giving a review for an image-based book. You can tell Tina wasn't there to help guide the conversation - I think I said "This is really cool" about fifty times and generally sound like an idiot - but hey. It's something new. Why not.

Yay!! Thanks for linking to my blog! I guess I definitely have to make a post for Friday now. I definitely want to buy this book, and fortunately have some Christmas gift cards :)
ReplyDeleteOooh! Definitely buy it - it's so cool.
