This has been yet another weekend (and early week) of demanding really strange things from people for the sake of another short film. It's still being put together (I have snake voices and singing clips coming in until the end of today, and I've also got an outside-directed piece that could be coming in if all goes well!), but it has been really fun so far. It's The Ballad of St. Pat which, if you watched our Valentine's video Stuffed with Love, was the dopey little documentary teaser that Lucinda showed. Yes, Dad and I made a complete short for that. No, it does not make any legitimate sense.
My storyboards were high-quality as usual.
Dad and I filmed scenes Friday-Monday, mainly because we kept forgetting things and coming up with new ideas or filler shots. But we did the majority of the scenes on Friday and Saturday, which meant that I posted a lot of odd statuses to social media concerning snakes and balloons and all kinds of stuff. I think my favorite part is that literally nobody asked me "why exactly is any of this happening?"
It would have been a fair question to ask.
That's how you know you have a good group of people around you - everyone's just like "Yep. Everything's fine." Even when I messaged people about giving me snake voices, the response wasn't "Wait, what?" it was "Sure! What are my lines?" It's been hilarious getting those recordings - you'll see what they're meant to be when I post the video on Friday. It was also hilarious recording them - Dave, Tina, and Amy all did theirs with me, with Amy recording them in my car outside of a Gattos. We only had about four minutes, since my phone was on 8%, but we finished, dammit!
So now to edit. I put together a rough cut yesterday, so today I'm going to go in and smooth everything out before I start layering in the additional voices. I'm excited!
Dad dressing the set.

A casualty of war.
Anyway, this video will be completely ridiculous, and I'll post more about it once it comes out. For now, though, I think I've got to shoot one last scene with good old Lucinda. Fingers crossed that I'm actually done with this by Friday!!!!

I'm so excited to see the result!! /Nat
